MEP CSEE - Munich 2024

Between January 11th and 16th, 2024, the annual Regional Session of the Model European Parliament for Central and South East Europe was held in the city of Munich. This prestigious forum brought together young leaders from across the region, immersing them in a realistic simulation of the European Parliament. The session held significance for the Bulgarian delegation, as one of the Vice-Presidents of the conference was a Bulgarian representative - Ivan Petrov, a student from the First English Language School in Sofia.

The delegation was formed during the 3rd National Session of MEP in Bulgaria and included students from two of the country’s most distinguished language schools - First English Language School in Sofia and the Lovech Language School “Ekzarch Yosef I.” Its members were Ms. Mila Sabcheva, Ms. Beloslava Tencheva, Ms. Gabriela Georgieva, Ms. Maria Garneva, Ms. Katerina Tsvetanova, Ms. Yoana Todorova and the Committee President Ms. Aleksandra Kostova.

Throughout the session, participants were assigned to various parliamentary committees where they worked on drafting resolutions on pressing topics such as the green transition, migration, security, and digitalisation. The program featured a formal opening ceremony, committee meetings, lobbying, and a Plenary Session, all held in different locations in the city. As is tradition, a cultural evening was also part of the schedule, during which the Bulgarian delegation had the chance to immerse themselves in Bavarian culture as well as proudly share their own by performing a traditional Bulgarian folk dance.

The Bulgarian team stood out with their thorough preparation, analytical thinking, and strong leadership skills. Many of them later became actively involved in organisation of the 4th National Session -- a testament to the lasting impact of the international experience. Words alone can hardly capture the energy and inspiration of this event, but the photos and memories remain vivid reminders of those moments when young people showed that the future of Europe is indeed in capable hands.
